LOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven University Department of Athletics has announced an extended partnership with UPMC Susquehanna.

As part of the agreement, UPMC Susquehanna has become the official sports medicine and health care provider of LHU Athletics. UPMC Susquehanna will be promoted as such on LHU Athletics’ official website (www.GoLHU.com) and in all home LHU Athletic venues.

In addition, UPMC Susquehanna has provided funding for a mobile athletic training facility. The brand new, state of the art athletic training trailer will be located at the Stern Athletic Complex, home to LHU baseball, men’s & women’s cross country and men’s & women’s soccer, as well as many other LHU club sports and intramural competitions.

“UPMC Susquehanna is proud to be the official sports medicine and health care provider of Lock Haven University Athletics,” said Patti Jackson, vice president of market development and communications, UPMC Susquehanna. “Through this partnership, we are providing quality care and services directly to the athletes where they need it. Our goal is to work with the athletes and coaches to keep the athletes healthy and on the field, and if an injury does occur provide them with the care and services they need to get back in the game.”

“Now that we have a mobile athletic training unit our athletic trainers can now treat and care for the student-athletes just as they would while on the main campus,” said Dr. Tom Gioglio, LHU Director of Athletics. “This is an outstanding and innovative addition to our existing state of the art athletic equipment and facilities. The coaches and student-athletes, especially those that compete at the Stern Complex, and I are extremely grateful to UPMC Susquehanna for providing this exceptional mobile athletic training unit.”

“The Lock Haven University Athletic Department and Athletic Training staff are grateful for the partnership that we have continued to develop with UPMC Susquehanna,” added Jason Erlandson, LHU head athletic trainer. “The conception, development and acquisition of the mobile athletic training trailer reflects our shared commitment to the health and wellbeing of our student-athletes. Our athletic facilities at the Stern Athletic Complex provide unique opportunities for our athletic department that are accompanied by challenges that this equipment will address. Moving forward, both groups look will continue to find innovative ways to meet the needs of our student-athletes.”
