Wilmont R. “Wil” Raymond – Obituary

ObitArtWilmont R. “Wil” Raymond, 88, formerly of 20 Woodland Dr., Lock Haven, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Elmcroft of Loyalsock.

Born on September 3, 1925 in Northumberland, he was the son of the late Rufus and Margaret Benner Raymond.

Wil was a 1943 graduate of Lock Haven High School where he played football.

He then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving as a Gunners Mate and Diver.

Wil then attended Williamsport Technical Institute, graduating with a degree in tool design.

On April 21, 1946 he married the former Jane Bowes who preceded him in death on July 19, 1987. Wil then married the former Margaret Hamberger Casilio on May 13, 1989 who preceded him in death on January 6, 1998.

Wil was employed by the AMP Incorporated of Harrisburg and the Lycoming Division of Avco in Williamsport, holding various positions over the course of his 38 year employment there.

Hunting and fishing were passions of Wil’s. He also enjoyed camping in his travel trailer.

Wil was a member of the First Church of Christ Disciples in Williamsport where he had served as a Deacon.

Wil was a life member of Hope Hose Fire Company as well as the BPO Elks. He was a past president of the American Society Quality Control of Danville/Sunbury, Pennsylvania Grotto Association, and Empire State Grotto Association. He was a past Monarch Zafar Grotto in South Williamsport. He was a member of Ivy Lodge 397 Free and Accepted Masons of Williamsport, AASR in the Valley of Williamsport, Zembo Shrine, Irem Temple, and American Association Retired Persons.

Surviving is a daughter, Sandra Raymond of Lewisburg; a step-daughter, Kathleen Evans of Mansfield; a step-son: Samuel Casilio of Lock Haven; and four step-grandchildren: Douglas and Megan Evans and Thomas and Nichole Casilio.

In addition to his wives, Wil was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Roberts; a brother, Harry Raymond; a step-son, Thomas Casilio; and a step-grandson, Samuel Casilio.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 2 pm at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington with the Rev. Steve Salmon officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Dunnstown Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home from 1 pm until the time of the service.
