Huskies Spoil LHU Football Homecoming, 33-7
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Running back Chantz Swartz (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata H.S.) rushed for 114 yards and tight end Jalen Jackson (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) hauled in three catch including one for a late touchdown, but it wasn’t enough as the Lock Haven University football team (1-7, 1-3 PSAC East) fell to Bloomsburg University (4-4, 3-2 PSAC East), 33-7, this afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action. The win by the visitors spoiled the Bald Eagles’ 2018 Homecoming festivities.
Swartz carried the ball seven times for 114 yards and he broke off a big 84-yard run at one point. Jalen Jackson finished with three catches for 39 yards and with 3:53 left in the game, he put Lock Haven on the scoreboard after a 32-yard catch-and-run TD.
On defense, LHU got another big game from Dontae Mason (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt), who made a game-high 12 tackles. He also recorded another interception, marking his fifth of the season, which ranks among the top of the PSAC. Tyjae Rivers (Philadelphia/Glen Mills) and Shane Scott (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) both made seven tackles.
Bloomsburg led 19-0 at halftime and scored 14 third-quarter points. For the Huskies, Erik Benjamin threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns, while Michael Allen made two of those TD-receptions. Alex Gooden rushed for 94 yards.
The Bald Eagles will host Shippensburg in PSAC East action on Saturday, October 27 at 12 p.m. It will mark Lock Haven’s final home game of the 2018 regular season, and LHU will celebrate Senior Day, Veteran’s Appreciation Day and it’s a PINK OUT to raise awareness for cancer research.
Following the Week 9 home game vs. Ship, LHU’s final two games of the regular season will come on the road at West Chester (Sat, Nov. 3) and at Gannon (Sat, Nov. 10).
