Jersey Shore Earns 3-0 Win over Lady Wildcats

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Jersey Shore came to town and picked up a 3-0 win over the Lady Wildcats to finish a busy four game week for Central Mountain.

Each of the games this week for the Lady ‘Cats has been very intense, physical contests from first whistle to final horn, accumulating 4 losses for CM in the process.

Today’s game was no exception as the Lady Bulldogs set the pace early putting pressure on the CM defense often in the early going with ‘Shore earning their first goal 22:37 into the first period when Sadie Griswold fed the ball to Taylor Fleming for a quick shot to the back of the net and a 1-0 JS lead.

Jersey Shore’s second goal came with 8:55 remaining in the first period when Aubery Sechrist scored unassisted for a 2-0 Lady Bulldog lead at intermission.

In the second half it was more of the same with the Lady Bulldog offense keeping steady pressure on a very tired Lady ‘Cat defense.

Jersey Shore would tack on their final score with just under 10 minutes remaining in the game when Meg Keegan passed the ball to Madison Maihle to give the Lady ‘Dawgs the 3-0 advantage.

‘Shore had a distinct edge in the offensive stats with 13 sots on goal while Central Mountain had 2. The lady Bulldogs also outpaced CM in corner kicks, 4-0. Maihle led Jersey Shore at shots on goal with 3, followed by Sechrist with 2 shots and Fleming had 1 shot. Hunter Barger and Sloane Tressler each had one shot on goal.

Griswold and Hannah Kauffman split duty at keeper for Jersey Shore and each had one save to their credit.

Maddison Briggs had a busy day at keeper for Central Mountain with 9 saves.

The win takes Jersey Shore to 4-4-1 overall, 2-3-1 in the PHAC.

The loss drops Central Mountain to 1-11 for the season and a 0-6 mark in the PHAC.

Jersey Shore will next host Wellsboro on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018 while Central Mountain will travel to Milton on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018.
