Lady Wildcat Soccer Falls to Montoursville, 7-0
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Lady Warriors visited Malinak Stadium Wednesday evening and put on quite an offensive show rolling up a 7-0 shutout over Central Mountain.
Montoursville used their speed, solid footwork and sure passing to their advantage and kept the pressure on Central Mountain the entire game, though, they couldn’t find the back of the net until the 12:46 remaining in the first period. Then just over a minute later CM was called for a hand ball in the box that set up a penalty kick for the Lady Warriors which they took quick advantage of even though the shot was well played by Lady ‘Cat keeper, Hailey Swortwood.
The Lady Warriors held a 2-0 lead at intermission and picked up another PK goal just under 3 minutes into the second period. Montoursville just continued to keep the pressure on the Central Mountain defense by spreading out four more scores in the reminder of the game for the 7-0 win.
The Lady Wildcats managed to move the ball into Montoursville’s 18 yard box a handful of times in the game but were turned away empty handed then the Lady Warriors would race the ball to the other end of the field and continue pressure the Lady ‘Cat defense once more.
Swortwood had 7 saves on the night and was bolstered by her defensive line in front of her with Miller Fravel and Amelia McCloy anchoring the middle of the field while Kylie Quiggle and Mia Kopysciansky were busy defending the flanks.
In all, Montoursville had 11 shots on goal and 9 corner kicks on the night while holding CM to just 2 shots on goal and no corners.
The loss takes Central Mountain to 1-6 overall, 0-3 in the PHAC.
The Lady Wildcats will next see action when they travel to Hollidaysburg for a weekend tournament on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018.
