BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – While the Keystone Central School District has yet to name a new director for the Central Mountain High School marching band, the band will begin its preseason band camp later this month.

There had been a concern on social media that the band is currently without a director as the school board had declared all coaching and band positions open during the course of the last school year. Those concerns were amplified when the Central Mountain musicians did not participate in last month’s Best of Clinton County parade in Lock Haven.

Therecord-online investigated and learned that there had been three applicants interviewed for the band director’s post several weeks ago. Since there will not be another school board meeting until August 9, there can be no official action to name a director. But a district source told therecord-online the matter is being resolved and there will be a satisfactory conclusion and band camp will begin as usual later this month.

The band had last marched in the Beech Creek/Blanchard Memorial Day parade and featured more musicians in the line of march in some years. The district source said there was a scheduling issue which prevented the band from participating in the Lock Haven parade in June.
