Russell Hall Slated for Demolition
LOCK HAVEN – Major changes are in store for the Lock Haven University main campus. As per information at last week’s trustees’ meeting, Russell Hall, a longtime dorm and more recently an office building, is slated for demolition next year. According to a report from LHU vice-president William Hanelly, once Russell Hall, above, is razed, the area will become “an open green space in the center of campus.” The nearby Sullivan Hall also is to be torn down; offices there will be moved across the street to Ulmer Hall, now undergoing renovations. Other projects include the renovation of Smith and Woolridge residence halls along N. Fairview Street; that work will be done through a $7 million dollar school bond issue. Also scheduled for demolition is the recently empty Gross Hall, a dorm atop the hill behind the main campus. Record photo – Jeannine Lipez
