Former Board Member Albert Jones Heads KCSD Super Search

Albert Jones

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Former Keystone Central School Board member Albert Jones is heading the effort to find a new district superintendent. Current superintendent Kelly Hastings announced in August she would be retiring effective March 17 of next year.

Jones said he had been approached by the school board in October to be involved in the replacement process and his hiring, at no charge to the district, was approved by the board at its meeting last week.

Jones said he will be working on a recommendation to the board for those to be interviewed with the final decision a board choice. He said there would likely be a need for an interim superintendent while the process plays out.

January 12 is the application deadline and there has been no indication from the board as to whether the district would look inside its administrative staff for a replacement or bring in a new superintendent from outside KCSD. Several administrators within the district are reported to have the needed certifications to be superintendent. The district has operated without an assistant superintendent in recent years.

Jones resigned from the school board as Region V representative in July as he was in the process of moving from his Woodward Township home into a new home in the district’s Region VIII presently served by board member Jeff Johnston.

Jones said he believed he was selected to direct the search because of his work experience in the field of human resources and involvement in employment searches similar to the effort to find a new superintendent.

He said he was motivated to help out by his belief in “service before self,” willingness to contribute to the community, what he called being part of the district in a positive way, “I really want to uplift Clinton County, Keystone Central School District and our community in a way that shows people this is a great place to live and work. I am just contributing in any way I can.”
