Job Fair in the Making for WCC Area

RENOVO — The Career Link office serving Clinton County is working on plans to hold a career fair in Western Clinton County later this year. Job fairs are events to bring employers and potential employees together.Bruce Jones of PA Career Link told the Renovo Community Trade Association members Monday plans for a job fair here are in the works and that the event will probably be held in late August or early September.

Career fairs are held regularly in the Lock Haven area. Some 160 job seekers attended the recent spring career fair held last week at Susque-View. The event also drew 34 employers who presented information about their companies.

Jones said Career Link is looking for sponsors for the event and for employers interested in participating. Interested employers can call Career Link for more information.

He said that in addition to the career fair, if the need would arise, a targeted recruitment event could be scheduled in a short period of time. Jones reported there were 31 new hires through Career Link in April. One of those jobs was related to the natural gas industry.

He also said that the unemployment rate for Clinton County as of February was 7.8 percent, down from 8.9 percent the same time last year.
