Wildcats Go Nil-All with Altoona
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain hosted Altoona this morning for a key District 6 AAA matchup and it was an epic battle between two very stingy defensive teams. After 100 minutes of play (two 40 minute periods for regulation and two 10 minute overtime periods) the game ended in a 0-0 tie.
Even though Altoona held a 14-9 edge in shots on gaol, and a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks, it was for nought as the Wildcats would not yield. Likewise, the Wildcat offense could not find a weakness in the Mountain Lion defense.
Trey Gentzel had 3 shots on goal for CM with Matt Storeman and R.J. Shaffer both with 2 shots each while Brayden Brungard and Logan Soo had one shot each for the ‘Cats.
Nick Andrus and Colin Jones saw time at keeper and both put forth their best efforts, recording 5 saves each on the day.
The tie bings Central Mountain’s record to 4-8-2 for the 2017 season.
Central Mountain will next see action on the road at Lewisburg on Monday, Oct. 16, 2017.
