First Quality Expansion Fill Needs: CM High School Complex Excavation Rolling Along

First Quality fill

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP — The current phase of providing 600,000 cubic yards of fill to First Quality Tissue is well underway northwest of Central Mountain High School. When it is done a previously hilly terrain will have been leveled off for a future high school baseball field and parking area.

First Quality needs the fill to elevate a portion of its Castanea Township site above the 500 year flood plain to provide the base for a third tissue manufacturing facility. The Keystone Central School District earlier this year gave approval for excavation from a woodland site beyond Malinak Stadium off Keystone Central Drive.

Contractor Glenn Hawbaker is finished using a site south of Webbwood in Woodward Township and additional fill is to be taken from a Stewart Ramm site off Tobacco Road in Dunnstable Township. Officials say the excavation portion of the First Quality expansion project should be continuing for another two months, weather permitting.

Special traffic provisions have been put into effect at Central Mountain High School while the excavation work is carried out at the high school site.
