Lady Wildcats Battle, Fall to Shamokin
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP — The Central Mountain Lady Wildcats clawed and battled all game long but visiting Shamokin had too much game for the home team, the Lady Indians departing with a 50-25 victory Tuesday night.
The Lady ‘Cats had a 6-6 tie late in period one but Shamokin, controlling the boards at both ends of the floor, went on a 16-2 run and opened up a 26-13 halftime lead. Central Mountain tried to stay close and trailed 37-23 after three quarters, but a 13-2 final quarter edge for Shamokin set the final at 50-25.
Central Mountain had balanced scoring, led by Averie Pringle’s 7 points, Sadie McCaleb next with 5. Other points came from Hayley Bauer, 4; Taylor Fletcher, 3; and 2 each from Morgan Wetzel, Bethany Dolan and Elaina Eckley.
The Lady Indians moved to 13-7 with the win, the loss leaving CM at 1-19 with two games remaining, home with Williamsport this Friday and home with Midd-West on Monday, Feb. 13.
