Glenn A. Barrows, 95, of 2351 County Road 448, Taylor, Texas, formerly of Farwell, Pa, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at S.P.J.S.T Skilled Nursing Facility.

Glenn was born on October 29, 1918 in Geneseo, New York, the son of the late Sidney L. and Kathryn (Fredrickson) Barrows.

On October 26, 1946, in St. Johns Swedish Lutheran Church on 8th street in Renovo, he married the former Gloria J. Lundfelt, who survives.

At the age of 19, he was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, Camp S-66, Company 306 in Loganton, PA, of which he has related many amusing anecdotes. He was honorably discharged in 1939 to join the work force as a welder for Piper Aircraft corp.

He worked twenty-one years for the Pennsylvania and Penn Central Railroads as train

Dispatcher and retired from the City of Austin (Texas) Water and Wastewater Department as

General Supervisor in 1980.

Glenn was and a man of many skills and was always there for family and friends to mend, fix, or repair.

Glenn enjoyed working on his automobiles and in later years occupied much of his time compiling scrapbooks of military planes, trains, and vintage automobiles. He especially enjoyed listening to his music from the WWII era. He was a loving father and enjoyed spending time with his family and the company of his dogs, Tiger and Tammy.

Glenn was a Veteran of the United States Army Air Force, serving during WWII from 1941 to 1945 and was recipient of  the EAME (European-African-Middle Eastern) Service Medal With (1) Bronze Battle Star,  American Defense Service Medal,  Good Conduct Medal, and four Overseas Bars.

Glenn was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two children, G. David Barrows of Renovo and Christina M. (Ron) Marsh of Taylor, Texas and two brothers, Wayne of Meyerstown and Stanton of Pennsburg.

In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by four brothers, S. Edgar Barrows, Bruce E. Barrows, John H. Barrows, Frank M. Barrows, and three sisters, Wilma R. Barrows, Kathryn J. Miller, and Phyllis V. Funk.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 2 pm at the First Methodist Church, 127 7th Street, Renovo, Pa 17764.  Burial with Military Honors will follow at North Bend Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received at the church on Thursday from 1 pm until the time of the service.
