Keystone 8-10 All-Stars Bounce Back with 11-3 Win over Clarion
Victory Sets Up Backyard Rivalry Game with Bellefonte
BRADFORD β The Keystone 8-10 All-Stars bounced back prime fashion with a convincing 11-3 win over Clarion in a loser’s bracket contest to advance in the PA State Little League Championship tournament.
After taking some lumps from a very good Ridley team, Keystone returned to their usual form and established their offense once more by garnering 11 hits and putting up a solid defense against Clarion.
The offense was led by Connor Foltz who pounded out a 3-run homer for Keystone with Braylen Corter contributing a double and a single while Levi Schlesinger, Gavin Burnell and Gardner Fravel all had a pair of base hits to their credit. Nate Wian pounded out a double as well.
Once again, demonstrating their depth, Keystone put on a pitch-by-committee display with Schlesinger, Brady Myers, Wian, Gabe Johnson and Foltz all seeing time on the mound allowing only 3 hits and earning 10 strikeouts, 6 for Schlesinger in the first two innings of the game to set the tone for the defense.
With the win, Keystone will next be challenged by Bellefonte, a 8-0 winner over Back Mountain, in a 6 p.m. loser’s bracket semi-final game, today, Friday, July 29. The winner will face Lehigh (who suffered a 19-4 loss to Ridley Area today) on Saturday, July 30 in the loser’s bracket final. The winner of that game will face Ridley Area on Sunday, July 31 at 3 p.m. in the championship finals.
