Richard L. “Dick” Masorti, 82, of 7 McElhattan Ave., Lock Haven, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 at his home.

Dick was born on January 29, 1932 in Castanea, the son of the late Philip and Regina Morticella Masorti.

He was a 1950 graduate of Lock Haven High School.

In 1951, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1955.

On April 7, 1976 in Williamsport, he married the former Mary Louise Halstead who preceded him in death on July 11, 2011.

Following being discharged from the Air Force, Dick worked at Piper Aircraft, Van Campen Motors of Williamsport and Jack Lowery Dodge. In 1982, Dick started Masorti’s Auto Repair in Castanea, which is still owned and operated by his family.

He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. Dick also belonged to the Castanea Fire Company, Lock Haven Son’s of Italy, Lock Haven Moose, Beech Creek Legion and Lock Haven Eagles Club. In more recent years, Dick enjoyed spending time with his friends in the Lock Haven Hospital Senior Circle Chapter.

Dick is survived by two sons, Richard L. (Becki) of Flemington and Dennis L. (Wendy) of Rote; three daughters, Debra (Mike) Chilcot of OH, Sharon Masorti of WV and Tina (Tom) Hayton of Linden; two brothers, Carmen and Robert; two sisters, Mary Shields and Elizabeth Reidell; thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Cunio, Lewis, Anthony, John and Francis; and two sisters, Sophie Smith and Delores Keller.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Rev. Father Joseph Orr officiating. Private burial will be at St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery.

Friends will be received on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton County SPCA.
