Clinton Earns 13-3 Win over Jersey Shore Area
LOCK HAVEN – It was a hard-fought contest with Clinton County’s finest on both sides of the ball tonight in first round 8-10 District 12 softball as Clinton faced Jersey Shore Area. The Clinton All-Stars is comprised of players from the greater Lock Haven and Renovo Leagues while the majority of the the JSALL All-Stars hail from the Woolrich League.
Clinton was edging Shore 5-2 after the two innings then tacked on another five runs in the third inning to stretch their advantage to 10-2. In the fourth inning both teams crossed the plate once to bring the tally to 11-3.
After a 30 minute delay due to lightening spotted in the area from a passing storm, Clinton scored two more runs, the final RBI coming off the bat of Madison Hardy’s fourth hit on the night to end the game in the bottom of the fifth with no outs.
Hits leaders for Clinton included Hardy’e 4-for-4 efforts of a double and three singles. Hayley Peters had two base hits with Kelsie Burrows, Sofia Dressler, Bree Weaver and Madisyn Wian all had singles to their credit.
Jersey Shore Area put the ball in play quite often, though the Clinton defense held them check most of the game. Liz Weller, Katelyn Stover, Macey Wagner, Kendy Bair and Kelly Rohrbach all had base hits for Shore.
In the circle for Clinton, Josey Shultz went the distance striking out 3 and giving up 2 walks. For Shore, Katelyn Stover struck out 6 Clinton batters and walked 7 on the night.
Clinton will next travel to face Loyalsock on their field on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 2 p.m.
Jersey Shore Area will face the loser of the Clinton-Loyalsock game at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5 at Nippenose.
