LOCK HAVEN – An Open House event was held on Monday, April 18 at Lock Haven Hospital to showcase the re-opening of the renovated OB wing.

Mothers-to-be will be pleased to know that patient labor and delivery rooms have now been outfitted with wall mounted computer workstations, reducing the need for moving bulky computer carts when minutes and seconds matter.  As well, new ceiling-mounted surgical lighting has been installed and some rooms have been slightly enlarged, with greater access to in-room restroom facilities.

This comes as a pleasing thought to Dunnstown resident Robyn Dobos who has a handicapped husband that will need access to various rooms while with his family in labor and delivery.  “Our first child, Grove was born here before my husband was in a wheelchair,” she said in an interview.  “And our second child will also be born here within the next coming weeks.”

Robyn and many other excited mothers-to-be were exploring the renovated wing Monday afternoon, many remarking at the aesthetically pleasing look and feel to the rooms.  New LED TV’s for entertainment, an eye-pleasing modern décor or wooden wall panels and fresh neutrally-painted rooms add a special calming touch to such a hectic time in the beginning of a family.  As well as the bedding, showcasing the skilled and patient handiwork of local quilters, only adding to another touch of home.

“Lock Haven Hospital is pretty much the only place in the county that has access to OB-care,” said hospital CEO Steve Davis.  “Being a short drive away, we have seen a jump in Renovo residents using our facilities when thinking of where to bring a child into the world, and we have welcomed them with open arms.”
