LHU Names Kathy Brown Women’s Soccer Coach
LOCK HAVEN – Kathy Brown has been named the new Lock Haven University head women’s soccer coach, bringing with her 20 years of collegiate coaching experience.
Brown has won National Championships as both a coach and player.
“We are excited to welcome Kathy and her family to Lock Haven,” said LHU Director of Athletics Dr. Tom Gioglio. “With 20 years of coaching experience and national championships on her resume, we are confident she can lead LHU women’s soccer into the future.”
For the last 18 seasons, she has toed the sidelines at Young Harris College in Young Harris, Georgia, as the head coach, after starting the program there.
Highlighting her tenure at Young Harris College was a 2006 Junior College Division I National Championship and she was elected into the Mountain Cats Hall of Fame in 2013. Seven times she was named the Region Coach of the Year while at Young Harris and Brown was tabbed as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Junior College Division I National Coach of the Year in 2006.
At Young Harris, Brown’s teams advanced to six National Tournaments, won eight Regional Championships and claimed six District Championships. She led 11 players to All-American honors.
In all, Brown won over 200 games at YHC, going 224-39-8.
Prior to Young Harris, Brown spent two seasons at as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Jacksonville State.
Brown graduated from Berry College in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and she earned a Master of Science in Community Agency Counseling from Jacksonville State in 1997.
While at Berry, Brown was a four-year scholarship player, who started on the 1993 National Championship team.

“I knew when I visited Lock Haven for the first time that it would be the perfect fit for me and my family and I can’t wait to get started. When I met with the team, I could feel their desire. I will take their passion and combine it with proper training, understanding of the game, and recruiting – then together – we will build a strong foundation for women’s soccer to compete at this level.”
Kathy and her husband Barry are the parents of four children.
Brown will replace former coach Rob Eaton whose departure from the post occurred in February of this year; no reason was given by the university. Eaton had been head coach for two years, compiling a mark of 6-25-2.
