Bridge Work on Route 220 Job to Resume Next Week
LOCK HAVEN – Bridge work on the Route 220 project at the Mill Hall exit will resume next week, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). Work on bridges along Mill Hall Road (Route 2015) paused for the winter in December of 2015.
Work will begin Monday to install a new deck and parapets on the bridge over Route 220 for the northbound on-ramp at the Mill Hall interchange. Daylight set-ups will reduce traffic to a single lane on Route 220 in each direction throughout the week.
Other work on the bridge will include expansion dam repair/replacement and roadway paving. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place in early April. PennDOT expects this work to be complete by late July.
The bridge work is part of PennDOT’s mainline project on Route 220, which wrapped up in fall of 2015. Mainline work addressed improvements to 7.5 miles of roadway to enhance the ride quality of the roadway surface and extend the useful life of the pavement. The work was made possible by Act 89.
HRI, Inc. of State College has been the contractor on the $17.3 million project.
