LH Summer Concert Series Goes to Saturdays in August

LOCK HAVEN — For the first time in nearly two decades of Lock Haven summer concerts at the Corman Amphitheatre, there will be a schedule change this summer.

Mayor Bill Baney announced at tonight’s city council meeting that for the 2016 season the four concert dates in the month of August will be held on Saturdays, rather than Sundays. The preceding seven dates, from mid-June through July, will continue on Sundays.

Following the meeting Baney and council member Steve Stevenson, both members of the summer concert committee, said the August change to Saturdays was to try something new, as Stevenson said, “to test the waters to see if spectator participation increases.”

Baney said that people have been clamoring for a change in recent years. He noted the August concerts will also begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday; that is an hour earlier and a day earlier than in previous years.

The Friday evening concerts at Triangle Park will remain unchanged this summer. Baney said the lineup of concert bands and the dates they will play is still being formulated.
