LHU Women’s Basketball closes regular season with loss at ESU

lhu-hoopsEAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Despite closing the regular season today with a 65-55 loss at East Stroudsburg University (13-12, 11-10 PSAC), the Lock Haven University women’s basketball team still has a chance to make the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) playoffs.

With the loss today at ESU, Lock Haven caps the 2015-16 regular season at 11-15 overall and LHU finished at 8-14 in PSAC play. Earlier today, Kutztown University beat Mansfield University, 84-75, which means Lock Haven needs Kutztown to lose to West Chester next Wednesday (February 24) for the Bald Eagles to secure a playoff spot.

Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) made history today for LHU. Her 10 rebounds pushed her to 323 for the season, which sets a new single-season school record. Mealing’s 475 career rebounds have her just outside the all-time top-10.

Freshman Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh (State College, Pa./State College) continued her strong stretch play and finished with a team-high 13 points today. She also had seven rebounds.

Mackenzie Livingston (Blairsville, Pa./IUP) added 12 points, four assists and four steals, while J.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) netted 10 points.

Ayanda McGill-Jefferson (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) chipped in with seven points and eight rebounds.

Mealing added six points and three assists.
