Lady ‘Cats Edged by Williamsport 54-51
WILLIAMSPORT – Hampered by a slow start and trailing Williamsport 40-31 after three quarters, Central Mountain rallied in in the final period for 20 points and came up one possession short of extending the game falling 54-51 to the Lady Millionaires.
Williamsport had a 13-5 advantage after one period and a 27-19 lead at the break in a consistent effort throughout. After that first quarter, the Lady Wildcats settled in and kept pace with Williamsport and needed just one more opportunity to knot the score but time expired.
Leading the way for CM was Averie Pringle with 16 points while Julia Novosat and Grayson McCloy each added 9 points to the effort. Elaina Eckley scored 8, Lydia McCaleb 7 and Lauren Hoy had 2 points on the night.
Next up is the last home game for Central Mountain when the host Mifflin County, Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016.
The JV contest was similarly close with Williamsport winning by 42-38. Makenna Bittner and Alexis Anastos led the junior Lady ‘Cats, each scoring 9 points.
