Elizabeth A. Lawless – Obituary

Elizabeth A. (Sykes) Lawless formerly of Lock Haven passed away peacefully at Bucktail Medical Center in S. Renovo on Wednesday, January 6, 2016.

Elizabeth, “Betty,” was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Before her health began to fail, Elizabeth enjoyed being with her family, spending time gardening, and singing in her church choir.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, William M. Sykes, the father of their four children, Thomas Withers, her second husband, and Howard Lawless who died in October 2010.  She was also preceded in death by her oldest child, Wesley, in 2012 whose wife, Martha and children survive.

Also surviving are her other children: Harry (Pamela) Sykes of Palm Harbor, FL, Deborah Sykes Drewery of Lock Haven, and Wanda Sykes (Michael) Friel of Lock Haven.  In addition to her children she is survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren who will sorely miss her.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 12 Noon at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 310 W. Water St., Lock Haven with Rev. Father Daniel O’Neil and Rev. Father Joseph Orr officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hyner.

Friends and family will be received at the Church from 11 A.M. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Bucktail Medical Family.  The family of Elizabeth wishes to express their very sincere appreciation to the staff of the Medical Center for their excellent care and love for “Betty.”
