Courthouse Tower Lights to Receive Some TLC

ccc-logoLOCK HAVEN—The Clinton County Commissioners have come up with a new plan to repair the lights which shine on the courthouse towers.

Commissioner Jeff Snyder said today the county has decided to install a series of 13 small metallic doors (one of which he demonstrated for the media) in proximity to the lights which had lighted the two towers, but many of which have burned out or fallen into disrepair.

Snyder said the county maintenance staff will use the doors for access to the light standards. Previously the county had used a crane to reach the lights but Snyder said with the construction of the handicapped entrance along the Jay Street side of the courthouse that is no longer practical. Cost of the doors was said to be $213 each, for a total cost of $2,769.

He said the work would be done after the county maintenance staff completes renovations to a new office suite for the Lock Haven area district judge in the former Flemington School Building.

The commissioners said they are developing plans for improving the exterior appearance of the courthouse as part of the county’s 2016 budget process.

They also said the handicapped access entrance on the Jay Street side of the courthouse will soon be used by the general public as the building’s main Water Street entrance will be temporarily closed while a contractor does improvements to the sidewalk in front of the building, part of the City of Lock Haven’s downtown beautification.
