Lady ‘Cats Battle Milton to 1-1 Draw
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – It’s no secret that the Lady Wildcat soccer team really enjoys their time on the pitch. Monday evening was no exception. In fact the Lady ‘Cats enjoyed their game with visiting Milton so much, they thought the contest was worthy of an extra 20 minutes of playing time in their 1-1 draw with the Lady Panthers.
After Milton took an early lead, just 1:58 into the contest, both squads kept each other at bay for much of the game. Then with 9:30 left in regulation, CM answered back on a sharply struck ball by Jamey Renninger to knot the score at 1-all.
In the first OT period, Central Mountain had several opportunities to end the game but came up just short in the effort with the Lady Panther defense causing just enough disruption to keep the CM offense out of the net. Milton also rallied several times to make a run for a score with the Lady Wildcats returning the favor defensively.
In the second overtime, it was more of the same. With tired legs and tanks running on empty, both offensive squads couldn’t quite finish the task as both defensive units kept pace.
The stats also indicate the dead-even effort by both teams on the night. In all, Central Mountain edged Milton 11-9 with shots on goal. Milton edged CM 11-8 i saves and it was a close advantage for Milton in corner kicks 5-4 over the Lady Wildcats.
