Sate College Drops CM 4-1 in Hard-Fought Effort
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Wildcats were hosts to District 6 rival, State College Saturday evening and just as all their past confrontations, the action was assured to be intense and last the duration of the contest. These two teams have historically brought out the competitive spirit in both squads. Even though it was a bit warm and humid, the game moved at full speed with nary a pause in the effort.
Central Mountain struck first with a well-executed goal at the 11:32 mark of the first period.
Kevin Hook worked the ball deep into Little Lion territory and struck a laser guided crossing shot that Micah Brinker drilled into the net for an early 1-0 lead.
State knotted the score to 1-1, 29:20 into the game.
After the break, State College made a few changes in strategy and were relentless in their pursuit to keep the Wildcats off balance and maintain offensive pressure. In all, State High, added three more unanswered goals in the second period for the 4-1 win.
State College managed 7 shots on goal while CM threatened three times on the night. Defensively SC had three saves while Brody Baker tallied 7 saves for the Wildcats.
Corner kicks were quite elusive for both teams, State College with 2 on the night and the Central Mountain recording one.
