Obituary-Perry C. Courter, Jr., 62

Perry C. Courter, Jr., 62, of Lock Haven, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026 at UPMC Williamsport Hospital. 

Born June 26, 1963 at Lock Haven Hospital, he was the son of Perry C. Courter, Sr. and Shirley Jacobs, who survive. 

On July 16, 1988, he married the former Dawn J. Crissinger, who survives. 

Following graduation from Lock Haven High School, Perry obtained his Associates Degree from Penn State Mount Alto in Forest Science. He then attended Williamsport Area Community College where he learned landscape architecture. 

He began his working career at Etting Landscaping of Montoursville, working there until 1988. Perry was then employed at Corning Ashai in State College, where he also served as a union officer, until their closing in 2003. 

He was a member of the Castanea United Methodist Church. 

Perry was an avid sports fan and enjoyed coaching pop warner football, baseball and girls’ softball. He was also proud to have helped with the Central Mountain Football program. 

Through his more than 25-year journey with kidney disease, Perry demonstrated unwavering courage and determination and was an inspiration to all of those who witnessed his battle. 

In addition to his wife and parents, Perry is survived by a son, Clayton Courter of Lock Haven; a daughter, Maranda (Samuel) Connor of Howard; a grandson, Bowen Connor; his sister, Alvina (Gary) Wennette of New York; and several brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 3 P.M. at the Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal Street, Mill Hall, PA 17751 with Rev. Mark Riley officiating.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday at the church for a time of viewing from 1 P.M. until the time of the service.
