LHU’s Evans breaks program record, Women’s Basketball soars past Cal (Pa.) at home

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Madeline Evans set a program record and the Lock Haven women’s basketball team used a dominant first quarter to run past California (Pa.), 77-60, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game on Saturday afternoon () Thomas Fieldhouse.​

Madeline Evans posted a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, including seven offensive boards, and went 6-for-6 at the line.​ Her seven offensive rebounds moved her career total to 281, which broke the Bald Eagles’ program record set by Ahnera Parker (2017-22).

Lock Haven (4-4, 1-2 PSAC) blitzed the Vulcans out of the gate, building a 25-10 lead after the first quarter and maintaining a double-digit advantage most of the way.​
California (Pa.) fell to 6-8 overall and 2-1 in conference play.​

Lock Haven shot 43 percent from the field and was nearly perfect at the free-throw line, finishing 24-for-25, while California shot 36 percent and went 10-for-16 at the stripe.​

The Bald Eagles controlled the interior with a 48-36 edge in points in the paint and a 39-31 rebounding advantage, including 20 second-chance points off 15 offensive boards.​

Rhlyn Rouse led all scorers with 22 points on 8-for-14 shooting and a 6-for-6 effort at the line, while adding six rebounds.​

Alana Robinson turned in an all-around effort with 21 points, seven rebounds, six assists, four steals and five blocks, going 7-for-16 from the floor and 7-for-7 at the stripe.​

Jenadia Jordan added 11 points, six rebounds and six assists to round out four Bald Eagles in double figures.​

Lock Haven shot 64 percent in the first quarter, using a 25-point frame to seize control while holding the Vulcans to 10 points.​

California cut the deficit to 24-31 late in the second quarter, but baskets by Robinson and Evans sent Lock Haven into halftime with a 33-24 lead.​

The Bald Eagles then outscored the Vulcans 16-8 in the third quarter to push the margin to 49-32 heading into the fourth.
