Muncy pulls away from Bucktail late in Mid Penn play

MUNCY- Muncy managed to fight off a furious Bucktail start to survive a home battle with the Bucks. The Indians were caught off guard by Bucktail’s effort. The battling Bucks trailed by just five points after one quarter at 17-12.
The Indians lead grew to double digits at the break following a 14-9 second quarter spurt to hold the 31-21 lead at the break.
Muncy began to pressure Bucktail and force turnovers in the third quarter and the start of the fourth. Muncy’s 23-16 third quarter advantage had the Bucks down by 16 entering the final quarter.
Another big frame from the home squad and a 24-8 run to close the game set the final at 78-45. Muncy upped their overall record to 6-2 and 2-0 within the conference.
Bucktail dropped to 2-5 on the season and are now 0-3 in Mid Penn Conference play.
Jaxton Frantz, the Muncy junior led all scorers with 24 points. Teammate Nixon Lamper added 10 points.
Bucktail’s Gavin Pick had another strong night by scoring 19 points. Corbin Pentz also hit double figures by dropping in 15 points. Aidan Ditty chipped in 8, Otis Emerick added 2 points. JJ Ditty scored 1 point in the loss.
