LHU Football falls to Shepherd in PSAC East clash

LOCK HAVEN– Despite a 19-point surge in the second half, the Lock Haven football team fell to visiting Shepherd University 35-19 today (Saturday, Nov. 8) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action.

The loss snapped Lock Haven’s three-game win streak which marked the Bald Eagles’ longest win streak since 1981.

The result also leveled The Haven’s overall record to 5-5 and 4-3 in PSAC East play.

Sitting at .500 and with one game to play in the 2025 regular season, the Bald Eagles will look to secure their first winning season in 44 years (1981) next Saturday at home.

Shepherd led 14-0 at halftime and Lock Haven rallied for 19 points in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to bring The Haven all the way back.

Bald Eagle quarterback Jackson Ostrowsky threw for 336 yards and three touchdowns which included a pair of TD catches from Justin Popovich as the two headlined the offense. Evan Sylstra also recorded a touchdown catch.

Popovich finished with eight catches for 99 yards and Jake Roberts’ run of strong play continued with seven catches for 73 yards. Running back Damir Green carried the ball 10 times for 58 yards.

Markel Morgan finished with a game-high nine tackles and Tyler Merwarth had an interception to lead the defense.

Rocco Daugherty added seven tackles.

For Shepherd, the win helped the visitors improve to 6-4 (6-1 PSAC East). It marked the Rams sixth straight win after they started the season at 0-4.

Jordan Barnett rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries to lead the way for Shepherd.

Up Next for Lock Haven:

The Bald Eagles will close the 2025 regular season at home on Saturday, Nov. 15 vs. Gannon. The PSAC East-West crossover clash is set for 1 p.m. at Hubert Jack Stadium.
