Lady Wildcats Fall in District 6 Championship to Hollidaysburg
WINGATE – The Central Mountain Lady Wildcats traveled to Bald Eagle Area High School Wednesday night to face off with the Hollidaysburg Lady Golden Tigers in the District 6 Class 3A volleyball championship match.
Hollidaysburg, the No. 2 seed, came ready to battle and walked away with the district title after a hard-fought 3–0 win over top-seeded Central Mountain.
The opening set was tight throughout, with the teams knotted at 22 before Hollidaysburg secured the final three points to take it 25–22. The Lady Golden Tigers carried that momentum into the second set, building an early lead and holding off a late Wildcat push to win 25–19.
Central Mountain continued to fight in the third set, keeping things close down the stretch, but Hollidaysburg once again pulled through late to seal the championship with a 25–22 victory.
The Lady Wildcats’ postseason run capped another standout year for the program. Seniors Kylie Rauch, Reese Walizer, Lilly Downing, Gabby Beaubrun, and Sophia Hardy all played key roles in the team’s success, providing leadership and consistency on and off the court. Central Mountain also showcased a strong group of underclassmen who will return next season, giving the Wildcats a solid foundation to build on for 2026.
