Wildcats Fall to Hollidaysburg in Overtime, 2–1

HOLLIDAYSBURG – The Central Mountain boys soccer team saw its season come to an end Thursday night in heartbreaking fashion, falling 2-1 in overtime to top-seeded Hollidaysburg in the District 6 Class AAA semifinals.

After a scoreless first half, Hollidaysburg struck first when Brealyn Ross found the net unassisted at the 38:32 mark. Central Mountain answered early in the second half as Yayfran Sanchez tied the match off an assist from Dylan Bechdel at 46:27, giving the Wildcats new life.

The teams battled evenly through the remainder of regulation, forcing extra time. Hollidaysburg’s Owen Naugle delivered the game-winner in the 89th minute off a feed from Alex Arbogast to seal the victory.

Central Mountain finished with 13 total shots, including nine on goal, while Hollidaysburg tallied 19 shots with 10 on frame. The Tigers also held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks. Wildcat goalkeeper Jaggar Pardoe recorded eight saves, while Liam Jancula made seven stops for Hollidaysburg.

The loss ends a strong season for the Wildcats, who finish 8-7-3 overall after a year that included several close contests and notable wins in the PHAC.
