Lady Wildcats Outlast Bald Eagle in Four Sets

WINGATE – Central Mountain volleyball made the trip Monday night to face a very solid Bald Eagle Area program and came away with a hard-fought 3–1 victory. The Lady Eagles battled toe-to-toe with the Wildcats but couldn’t hold off the visitors’ power at the net.

The Wildcats struck first, using a late run to take the opening set 25–19. Bald Eagle responded in the second, jumping out to a 5–0 lead before Central Mountain settled in. The set turned into a back-and-forth battle, tied multiple times late, including 20–20, 22–22, 23–23, 24–24, and 25–25. A replayed point followed by a Wildcat miscue gave Bald Eagle the edge, 27–25, to even the match at one set apiece.

Central Mountain quickly regrouped, taking control of the third set with steady hitting and strong defense, closing it out 25–18. The fourth set was all Wildcats, as they built momentum from the first serve and closed the night with a 25–14 win.

With the victory, Central Mountain improves its record and now prepares for a busy week. The Wildcats will host Central Columbia on Tuesday before traveling to Shamokin on Thursday.
