Obituary – Carl E. Andrus, Sr.

Carl E. Andrus, Sr. , 97, of Lock Haven, Pa passed away on Tuesday, June 24th, 2025 at his home.
Carl was born in Lock Haven to William and Lyda (Rupert) Andrus on March 22nd, 1928. On July 7th, 1950 he married the former Shirley G. Soverns who preceded in him in death on January 31st 2013.
He graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1946 then serving in the Army from 1947-1949. He is the longest living member of the Salvation Army and worked at Piper Aircraft for 35 years.
Carl loved game shows, collecting toy cars, fire trucks, puzzle books and playing the lottery. He enjoyed concerts downtown and would wash and wax his car weekly. He was given the name, Donut Man as he would pick up donuts to be given out at church.
He was a member of the Senior Citizens, Senior Songster’s and Senior band members at the church. He was also a Corps Sargent Major of the Salvation Army.
Carl is survived by a daughter, Margaret Andrus of Lock Haven, two sons, Neal (Kelly) Andrus of Lock Haven and Carl (Natalie) Andrus of Lawton, Oklahoma and a sister-in-law, Mary Andrus, 10 Grandchildren,16 Great
Grandchildren and three Great-Great-Grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Carl is preceded in death by a son, Sheldon Andrus, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral Services for Carl E. Andrus Sr. will be held at on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 10 AM in the Salvation Army, 119 East Church St. Lock Haven, Pa, 17745. Officiating will be Soldier Kathy Deavor.
Friends and family will be received in the Salvation Army on Tuesday morning 1 hour prior to the services and the evening of Monday June 30th from 5-7PM in the Gedon Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC 121 W Main St. Lock Haven, Pa 17745.
The burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lock Haven Salvation Army.
