Millville keeps tight grip on D4 1A lead with 15-4 win over Sugar Valley
Millville- District IV defending 1A champions Millville fought off a strong effort from Sugar Valley to drop the Phoenix 15-4 in 5 innings.
The Phoenix jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Millville scored 11 runs in their first three at bats and despite a Phoenix 2-run rally in the fourth inning eventually picked up the five inning win to jump their season mark to 7-2 and kept the Quakers ahead of Cowanesque Valley in the current district standings.
Briar Martin, Lincoln Breon, Brody Swanger, Layden Bryan and Tobias Conoway all collected hits for the Phoenix. Conoway’s hit was a double, as was Martin’s.
Now 0-5, Sugar Valley will return home to Taggert Park to face Columbia Montour Vo-Tech (1-7).
