Frank Lawrence Conly, lovingly known as “Doc” or “Larry” to those closest to him, passed away peacefully at his home in West Renovo, PA, at the age of 71. Born on November 4, 1953, in Bryn Mawr, PA, he lived a life dedicated to his family, medicine, and the community he served.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Melinda (Prebble) Conly, and his children, Carrie Friese (Casey Friese) and their children Kayden, Kyler, Keller, and Kiplee; Marjie Stone (Jason Stone) and their children Makenna, Teagen, Benson, and Asher; and Keith Conly (Andrea Tarantella). He is also survived by his sister, Barbara “Bobbie” Cody, and his cousin, Steve Hampson (Harold Koopowitz), and extended family Kathleen Kalafut and David Hanobic.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Stinger Conly and his mother, Marjorie (Cornish) Conly, as well as his sister, Carol Dalmau, and brother, Sam Conly.
Larry grew up in Wallingford, PA, and earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from Lafayette College. He then followed in his father’s footsteps and embarked on the path to his true calling by dedicating his life to helping others through a career in medicine. He earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Thomas Jefferson University Medical School in Philadelphia, PA. He went on to build a respected career as a family doctor, offering unwavering care to the Renovo community from his private practice for over 43 years. He cherished practicing side by side with his daughter Carrie for many years. Known for his compassion, dedication, and commitment to his patients, he was one of the rare doctors who continued the tradition of house calls, ensuring that no patient was left without care.
Beyond his career, Larry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He treasured spending time with his family, especially at their beach house in Sandestin, FL, where many cherished memories were made. He had a love for skiing with his family and was a roller coaster enthusiast so making annual trips to Cedar Point was always exciting. His passion for medicine and community care was only rivaled by his love for family adventures.
Larry’s legacy is one of kindness, dedication, and service. Whether through his professional life as a physician or in his role as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, his impact on those around him was profound and lasting.
Though he is no longer with us, his humor, love, wisdom, and the impact he had on so many lives will never be forgotten.
Private services are being held. To honor Larry, the family asks that you recall your fondest memory of him; whether it be a way he impacted your life in his professional role, his fight for the community, the craziest thing you ever saw him do, or the wildest story you ever heard him tell.
In lieu of services, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Greater Renovo Heritage Park (530 Erie Avenue Renovo, PA 17764), supporting his passion for Renovo the community.
