American Legion Post 623 Donates to Local Veteran’s Wife Battling Cancer
BEECH CREEK – Members of Post 623, Sons of the American Legion (SAL) in Beech Creek, PA, recently presented a donation to Wendy Brungard, the wife of a local veteran, to assist with medical expenses.
Her son, Brian Alterio, had the honor of handing her the check, which came from the proceeds of a Benefit Raffle held on January 11, 2025. The event, organized by the SAL, aimed to support Wendy, who has been battling stage 4 lung cancer and undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments since October 2024. The funds raised will help cover the costs of traveling to and from her treatments.
Several SAL officers were present for the presentation, including Commander Drew A. Matis, 1st Vice Commander Devon S. Bechdel, Treasurer Chad A. Bechdel, and Chaplain Jordan Boone.
