‘Thunder on the Mountain’ v6 April 25
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Sixth Annual Thunder on the Mountain Softball Tournament will be held at Central Mountain High School on Saturday, April 25, 2015. The annual contest will feature some of the top AAAA programs from the region and state. The entire field has only suffered a total of four losses on the season thus far which should be a solid indication as to the level of play local softball fans can expect to be on display.
Participating teams and their current records through 4/22/15 are:
- Central Mountain 5-2
- Hempfield 8-1
- DuBois 3-1
- Mifflin County 9-2
Lady Wildcat coach Dave Peters offers the following scouting report for the tourney:
Hemfield, Dist. 7 (WPIAL) – Their loss was to Norwin, they lost to them earlier in the year, beat them this week. WPIAL has 4 sections of AAAA, 29 teams total.
Mifflin County Dist. 6 The Lady Huskies have a 7-2 record in the District 3-oriented Mid-Penn Conference, Commonwealth Division. Losses to Cumberland Valley (beat in 2nd meeting) and Cedar Cliff .
DuBois Dist. 9 – Unable to find much info on Dubois at this point. They recently beat Philipsburg-Osceola 6-3, hit a couple of home runs. They lost to Williamsport on Tuesday, 9-2. They beat St. Marys 4-3 in 8 innings, and it is known St. Marys returned a tough pitcher. Looks like they haven’t played much, played Tuesday and lost, scheduled to play Punxsutawney this week.
Coach Peters added, “It’s hard to judge the quality with so many teams. It should be an excellent tournament, and all AAAA games. It would be great to win and keep building on from there.”
