Sockman’s big night on the glass lifts Lady Bucks past CMVT, 40-16

By Bees O’Brien

Bloomsburg- Eva Sockman has been dominating the glass for Bucktail this season. She’s been putting up numbers much like former NBA standout Dennis Rodman used to. On Wednesday night in Bucktail’s 40-16 domination at Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, Sockman would rip down 23 rebounds and score 11 points.

Teammate Kendall Wagner also collected a double-double by scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Senior Matti Mason racked up 13 points and just like that the Lady Bucks were squarely in the District IV 1A playoff hunt.

Bucktail jumped out to a 17-5 lead after one quarter against a Lady Rams team that entered the contest winless.

A 7-3 second quarter advantage gave visiting Bucktail a 24-8 lead at the break.

11-4 and 5-4 frames in favor of Bucktail to close out the game would set the final at 40-16.

CMVT is a 3A opponent for the Lady Bucks and gave their playoff chances an added boost. The Lady Bucks (4-7, 2-2)  currently sit in seventh place in the current PIAA District IV 1A power point standings, with the top 8 teams qualifying for the postseason in February.

Bucktail will next be in action Friday night in the annual “Pink Out” game in Farwell when they host a tough Northwest (7-3, 3-1) Lady Rangers squad at 6pm.
