LHU Women’s Basketball opens PSAC East play
LOCK HAVEN– The Lock Haven women’s basketball team was edged out 68-66 by visiting Kutztown University despite a furious fourth-quarter charge from the host Bald Eagles Friday (Jan. 3) evening in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opener for both teams.
The Bald Eagles trailed by as many as 14 points with 4:17 to play, but a tremendous closing stretch pushed Lock Haven back into the game.
With the loss, The Haven moved to 8-4 overall and the Bald Eagles sit 3-3 in PSAC (0-1 PSAC East) play. Kutztown ran its record to 6-8 overall (2-4 PSAC).
A balanced scoring effort saw four Bald Eagles finish with double-figures including Madeline Evans and Kiera Baughman, who each netted 17 points. Jenadia Jordan scored 16 points and Alana Robinson added 10 points.
Evans finished with a monster double-double as a 12-rebound effort backed up her 17 points.
Rhlyn Rouse grabbed 11 rebounds.
Jordan added six rebounds and three assists, while Baughman recorded three steals.
For Kutztown, Naia Pulliam led the way with 23 points. She netted three of the Golden Bears’ 10 total 3-pointers in the win.
Trailing by 14 at 63-49 with 4:17 left in the game, Lock Haven embarked on a 13-0 run and cut the Kutztown advantage to just one-point at 63-62 with 23 seconds left in the contest.
The sensational run and late rally gave the Bald Eagles a chance to tie it late, but the visitors defense held strong in the final seconds.

The Bald Eagles will return to action on Monday, Jan. 6 when they travel to West Chester for a 5:30 p.m. PSAC East clash.
