Bucktail Lady Bucks Secure Victory Over Montgomery in Hard-Fought Battle
FARWELL-The Bucktail Lady Bucks earned a hard-fought 47-34 victory over Montgomery Friday night in Renovo. The game was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams exchanging momentum before Bucktail pulled away in the final quarter.
Bucktail held a slim 9-6 lead after the first quarter but struggled in the second as Montgomery outscored them 14-7 to take a 20-16 advantage into halftime. The Lady Bucks regrouped in the third quarter, reclaiming the lead by outscoring Montgomery 12-6. In the fourth quarter, Bucktail surged ahead, scoring 18 points while holding Montgomery to 8 to secure the win.
Matti Mason led Bucktail with 18 points and came up clutch in the fourth quarter, sinking key free throws to keep her team in control, while Kendall Wagner added 15. Eva Sockman contributed 12 points and dominated the boards with several critical rebounds. Arionna Winkleman added 2 points to round out the scoring. Montgomery’s Paige Winters led all scorers with 16 points, and Addi Muhl added 11 for the Red Raiders.
Bucktail’s scoring by quarter was 9-7-12-18, while Montgomery’s was 6-14-6-8.
The Lady Bucks will next be in action on Wednesday when they visit Columbia Montour Vo-Tech.
