From Classroom to Community: CMHS Student Lily McWilliams Leads Successful Blood Drive

MILL HALL— Lily McWilliams, a dedicated student enrolled in the Health Assisting program offered through the Career and Technology Center at Central Mountain High School, has completed part of her senior project with inspiring success. McWilliams hosted a notable blood drive with the American Red Cross.

The blood drive saw enthusiastic participation from students and staff alike. Other health-assisting students played an active role by cheering on their teachers and peers during the donation process. When it was all said and done, the Red Cross collected a commendable 29 units of blood, with an impressive 71% of the donors being first-timers, thanks to McWilliams’ efforts.

McWilliams emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “This was not only an amazing learning opportunity for me but also for my classmates who got to stand by my side and watch this beautiful process happen.”

With the backing of the school community and plenty of positive feedback, there are already plans to make the blood drive a biannual tradition. The goal is to further educate the community on the crucial role of blood donation. This event not only marked a significant educational experience for students but also showcased the collaborative spirit of Central Mountain High School in contributing to a vital cause through the Career and Technology Center.
