LHU Volleyball falls at Shippensburg
SHIPPENSBURG– The Lock Haven volleyball team traveled to Shippensburg for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match on Saturday (Nov. 9). The Bald Eagles fell to the Raiders, 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-13).
Friday marked the seventh straight road match for the Bald Eagles.
Shippensburg jumped out to an early 12-5 start through the first set, including three aces that forced a Bald Eagle timeout. A back-and-forth continued which saw Reagan Irons pick up five kills, but four of the final five points were earned by the Raiders to claim set one, 25-17.
To begin the second set, neither team broke away for more than a one-point difference until Shippensburg formed a 5-1 quick breakaway, with two aces to hold a 17-12 edge. The Raiders closed the second set with force, taking the two set advantage, 25-18.
Another close battle to start the final set, the host scored 15 of the final 20 points of the afternoon to earn another PSAC East victory after the 25-13 set.
Irons led the way for the Bald Eagles with ten kills and racked up six digs. Natalie Acevedo finished with six kills and the solo ace, while also collecting 11 digs.
Gabby Gealey and Kelly Gaston contributed with 12 and 11 assists respectively.
The Bald Eagles moved to 5-17 overall and 3-9 in the Eastern Division. Shippensburg improved to 17-11 overall and 11-2 in the conference.
