LHU Football downed by West Chester

WEST CHESTER– The Lock Haven football team fell to host West Chester, 27-16, Saturday (Nov. 2) afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action.

The loss dropped the Bald Eagles to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in PSAC East play. West Chester moved to 4-5 overall and 4-2 in PSAC East play.

Jackson Ostrowsky, the PSAC’s top quarterback, finished with 259 passing yards and one touchdown. Lock Haven running back Damir Green did all he could to carry the offense, finishing with 128 rushing yards on 22 carries and a TD.

Chris Hicks finished with 104 receiving yards on six catches – which included one for a touchdown. T’iar Young made six catches (73 yards) and Quon Williams finished with five receptions.

Oscar Uduma led the way on defense with nine tackles, while Markel Morgan finished with six tackles and an interception.

Justin Anderson’s remarkable effort of seven tackles included 1.5 tackles-for-loss, which pushed his career tackles-for-loss mark to 32, the third-most in school history.

On the season, Ostrowsky now has 2,596 passing yards – the fifth-most ever in a single-season and his 20 passing TDs are the third-most in a single-season at The Haven.

Green put Lock Haven up 7-3 in the first quarter when his three-yard touchdown-run capped an eight-play drive. Tony Nicassio kicked a 31-yard field goal early in the second quarter and the Bald Eagles extended the lead to 10-3. Host West Chester responded however, and the Golden Rams clung to a 17-10 lead at halftime.

Ostrowsky and Hicks connected on a 15-yard touchdown pass-play late in the fourth quarter as Lock Haven looked to surge late.

West Chester’s Cooper Jordan rushed for 104 yards and Juke Peaker ran for a pair of scores to help fuel the Golden Rams’ offense. West Chester also benefitted from a defensive touchdown.

Next week (Saturday, Nov. 9) marks Lock Haven’s final home game of the 2024 regular season as the Bald Eagles are set to host Shippensburg at 1 p.m. in PSAC East action.
