LHU Volleyball falls in fifth set to Millersville on the road
MILLERSVILLE– The Lock Haven volleyball team forced a winner-take-all fifth set against Millersville, but the Marauders rallied to outlast the Bald Eagles, 3-2 (21-25, 25-11, 17-25, 25-20, 15-17) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division battle on Saturday (Nov. 2).
Saturday marked the fifth straight road match for the Bald Eagles, who are in the midst of a six-match road trip.
With the result, the Bald Eagles move to 5-15 overall and 3-7 in the PSAC East. Millersville improves to 13-12 overall and 5-5 in the conference.
The Bald Eagles traded sets with the Marauders with victories in the second (25-11) and fourth (25-20) to force a winner-take-all deciding set.
The Haven dominated in its victory in the second set by outscoring the Marauders 25-11, after forcing six Millersville errors and notching a match-high five service aces.
In the fifth and deciding set, Lock Haven built a 13-11 lead, but the Marauders closed out the match on a 6-3 run to steal the victory.
Kelly Gaston registered 50-plus assists for the second straight match as she finished with 51 to lead the Bald Eagles attack, while adding 13 digs and five aces.
Reagan Irons and Gracelynn Wolzen led The Haven in kills with 16 and 15, respectively. Irons added six digs on defense.
Alyssa Daley tallied 13 kills and a team-high three solo blocks.
Natalie Acevedo led the defense with 23 digs, while she also notched three aces.

The Bald Eagles remain on the road and will travel to West Virginia on Friday (Nov. 8) at 7 p.m. to take on Shepherd in a PSAC East match.
