Volleyball falls in hard-fought PSAC East match at West Chester
WEST CHESTER – The Lock Haven volleyball team battled West Chester on the road to five sets in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match, but the Golden Rams held on to win 3-2 (25-23, 20-25, 24-26, 25-20, 12-15) on Friday night (Nov. 1).
Lock Haven got off to a hot start and took a 1-0 lead after grinding out a 25-23 victory in the opening set.
However, West Chester took the next two sets, 25-20 and 26-24, to put The Haven’s backs against the wall.
The Bald Eagles responded in a big way with a 25-20 victory to even the score at 2-2 and force a winner-take-all fifth set.
West Chester, however, won the race to 15 in the final set to steal the match victory.
For Lock Haven, Reagan Irons and Alyssa Daley led the attack with 17 and 14 kills, respectively. Irons added 11 digs and Gracelynn Wolzen finished with 12 kills.
Kelly Gaston finished with 55 assists, nine digs and seven kills.
Natalie Acevedo led the defense with 18 digs, while Evie Jane Rembold chipped in five block assists.
Friday marked the fourth straight road match for the Bald Eagles, who are in the midst of a six-match road trip.
Lock Haven moves to 5-14 overall and 3-6 in the PSAC East. West Chester improves to 11-12 overall and 3-6 in the conference.
