Central Mountain Tennis Team Triumphs Over Grier in Unique Format

The Central Mountain girls tennis team secured an impressive 4-2 victory over Grier in a match played in a different format than usual. The competition featured four singles matches and two doubles matches, each played as a pro set to 10 games, adding an extra layer of excitement and intensity to the contest.

In singles play, Central Mountain’s top player, Addison Lindsay, set the tone early with a commanding 10-0 victory over Grier’s Eva Kozecku. Lindsay’s dominant performance showcased her ability to control the court and quickly earn a point for her team.

Ellie Harry followed up for Central Mountain with a solid win in the second singles match, defeating Danny Guerrero 10-3. Harry displayed excellent footwork and consistency, keeping her opponent on the defensive throughout the match.

Although Grier’s Natalia Taja managed to get a point on the board by defeating Central Mountain’s Molly Dubbs 10-2, Emily Brinker secured the third singles point for the Wildcats in a hard-fought battle against Marcela Baeza. Brinker’s resilience helped her edge out Baeza 10-7 in a tight contest that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.

In doubles, the duo of Leah Wian and Kassie Williams showed excellent chemistry, overpowering Grier’s Irene Back and Caye Redel with a decisive 10-2 victory. Their strong serving and net play helped clinch the match for Central Mountain.

The final doubles match of the day was a thriller, as Grier’s Serena Li and Lucy Buchanan narrowly defeated Central Mountain’s Harper Coleman and Tess Akeley in a tiebreaker, winning 10-9 (7-1). Despite the loss, Central Mountain had already sealed the overall team victory with a 4-2 scoreline.
