CM Downs Selinsgrove in Rematch Game

Selinsgrove

SELINSGROVE-Earlier this season, Selinsgrove traveled to Malinak Stadium and gave the Wildcat Boys Soccer a tough 2-0 loss. It was a game in which CM left happy with their performance, but disappointed in the result. Saturday they got their revenge, and were able to leave happy and with the result they wanted.

An early goal from the Seals saw them take an early 1-0 lead just 4 minutes in. The Wildcats bounced back, reacting just as we would hope. Playing their game and doing it well, the Wildcats would score three unanswered goals to get the win.

A great through ball from Tim Brinker, perfectly weighted and diagonal through the backline, found Lincoln Breon in stride who calmly placed the ball into the back of the net to tie it up.

The halftime discussion focused on continuing the exact same pattern and attacking play that we saw in the first half, while focusing on keeping the Seals off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game.

10 minutes into the second half, a great pattern of play found Freshman Gabe Killinger in the box get taken down for a penalty kick. Cole Cooper calmly placed the shot home for the 2-1 lead. Later in the second half, a ball played into the box was not cleared completely by the Seals, and Breon found the ball landing on his foot before he struck it home at the far post. 3-1 Wildcats, and a great win!

The two goals gives Breon 5 for the season, while Cooper’s PK was his team leading 6th goal of the season.

“The back line played phenomenal all night, keeping Selinsgrove’s attack at bay after the early goal. Isaiah Brinker and Bryce Warren played all 80 minutes at center back and looked fantastic in tandem. Alton Counsil, Nolan Cross, and Cam Counsil kept the outside back positions comfortable while also joining the attack on multiple occasions,” said Coach Hook.

Jaggar Pardoe finished with 5 saves in goal.

CM is back on the road at Shikellamy Wednesday in another PHAC conference matchup, as they look to continue their progress towards the district playoffs.
