Feeling Fall-bulous: Scarecrows on Display in Downtown Lock Haven

By Christopher Miller

LOCK HAVEN – Players on the Commonwealth University – Lock Haven Football Team gathered Sunday morning to help downtown manager Melissa Dally and her family hang scarecrows on light poles throughout the East Main Street area.

The scarecrows, sponsored by Chatham Run Feed Mill and Lowe’s of Mill Hall, will be on display through November 1.

“This is part one in our initiative of “Let’s Make Downtown Look Fall-bulous”! It is a fun way to get in the spirit of the season and will help to serve as an attraction to local community members and visitors to our area because of the aesthetic appeal,” the Downtown Lock Haven, Inc. website says.

The scarecrows are an initiative of the newly formed “Friends of Downtown Lock Haven,”  a business, individual or organization that supports Downtown Lock Haven through membership and/or sponsorship.

To name a few, scarecrows were created by First Quality, The Texas, Reese’s Print Shop, Eagle Ridge Personal Care Home, Clinton County Conservation District, Sweeney’s Floral Shop, Leo’s, The Apothecary, The Roxy Theatre, and others.

“It wouldn’t be possible without all the businesses and Friends of Downtown Lock Haven who signed up to participate,” said Melissa. “Downtown Lock Haven also wants to give a huge thanks to CU-Lock Haven Football team, Coach Dan Mulroney and Kira Rosamilia, Tourism Director, for volunteering to help hang up the scarecrows.”
