LHU Men’s Soccer wins PSAC West opener, downs Cal

LOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven men’s soccer team opened its 2024 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division schedule on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 15) and took down California (Pa.) 2-0 in front of the home crowd at Hubert Jack Stadium.

The Haven, who rejoined the PSAC West at the start of the 2024 campaign, hosted its first Western Division contest since the 2009 season.

Lock Haven moves to 1-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC West. Cal falls to 1-1-1 overall and 0-1 in conference.

Lock Haven keeper Brady Freiwald made two huge saves in goal, including stopping a Cal penalty shot in the first half that kept the score tied. The shutout was the first on the season for Freiwald.

After a scoreless first half, Lock Haven netted both of its goals in the second after converting a pair of corner kicks

Connor Swope recorded both assists in the match after sending two beautiful corner kicks into the heart of the box that resulted in a pair of Lock Haven goals. Carter Rosno and Danny Ogan found the back of the net in the 48th and 57th minute.

Lock Haven bested Cal on the attack, finishing with a game-high 10 shots and seven corners, while limiting the Vulcans to four shots and two corners.
